DISTILLIERMEISTER E3620 Supreme is an easy-to-use distillation system for essential oils in Supreme stainless steel quality. The amount of plants can be varied with the continuously adjustable aroma sieve. However, you should make sure that the thickness of the plant layer does not become too small, otherwise there is a risk that the steam will flow through without loosening the essential oils. This distiller is more of a plant for larger quantities of plants. The following applies: smaller quantities, lower heating power.
With a total volume of 36 liters, this offer is the cheapest that can be offered in this quality. The spherical helmet ensures optimal steam focusing in the riser. Basically, it is recommended that the filling extends as far as possible into the helmet until just before the riser opening and the helmet z. B. is insulated with a blanket to reduce dripping losses. But it is also advisable to insulate the riser pipe and the walls of the boiler above the aroma strainer from the outside; this increases the yield and also saves heating energy.
A built-in, high-quality stainless steel thermometer is already included in the scope of delivery.

A few tips before you start.

This set is suitable for easily separating the essential oil from the hydrosol after distillation. In addition to this set, it's best to have clean bottles ready for the final bottling. I use wine bottles with corks for the maturing period or flip-top bottles for final storage. No matter what, the main thing is that the bottles are light-protected. I simply cleaned the bottles with washing-up liquid and carefully rinsed them. In my experience, sterilising the bottles, as recommended in many sources, is not necessary. Light is the only enemy. If you plan to store the hydrosol in the Erlenmeyer flasks for several days, they should first be closed with stoppers rolled out of kitchen paper and stored in a dark place. After about a week, the hydrosol should be transferred to the coloured bottles for storage, or the paper stoppers should be dipped in stoppers 8.1 or 9.1. When storing in wine bottles, the cork can be used to seal the bottle. Over time, the cork will cause the hydrosol to mature, which will take no longer than three months. However, only hydrosols with a pH of ≤ 5 can be stored for longer periods. My oldest acidic hydrosols are now 4 years old and in very good condition. I stored them in the cellar at average temperatures below 18 °C. But even occasional temperatures of 22 °C did not harm these hydrolates. I also have hydrolates with 5.5 ≥ pH ≤ 6, which showed sensory signs of old varnish after one year, without completely turning over. However, you don't really want these hydrolates. In practice, the hydrolates are usually not stored for so long; for me, the goal was the long-term experiment.

Distillation

This set is very flexible and can be used for stills with a high distillate outlet and also when the outlet is low and a setup as shown above is not possible.

In the first case, use the Erlenmeyer flask as a receiver and collect 500 ml as the first batch. For stills with a high distillate outlet, you can also use the oil separator directly as a template, as shown above, and gradually drain the hydrolate into the Erlenmeyer flask. Depending on the still, the extraction takes 8 to 15 minutes. You can assume that the oil is included in this margin.

You can arrange to replace the Erlenmeyer flask for the second batch without interrupting the distillation. At the latest, you should hold a pH strip in the distillation jet in the middle of the second batch. You can use this value to decide whether a further batch is useful. If the pH value is below approx. 4.5, you can consider a further distillation run. For this, the distillation must be interrupted in the 2-litre hobby systems as a precaution in order to top up the water in the boiler. However, this is not a problem because no more oil can be lost. The distillation continues where you left off.

In my experience, in the vast majority of cases, the distillation was complete after removing two portions. I found one of the exceptions with fennel seeds.

A good cooler with an optimally set flow rate can be recognized by the fact that the waste water comes out hot at the outlet and the distillate is still well cooled.

This distiller impresses with its particularly solid material quality. With a 3-litre plant chamber, you have a decent volume for hobby use, even for processing larger quantities of plants or drugs. By raising the aroma basket (optional), you can also experiment with smaller quantities, but you should then work with reduced heating power. The steam is generated in a separate boiler under the plant container, so that contact with boiling water is impossible. • Switch on the heat source and collect the hydrolate with oil at 4.6.

The DESTILLIERMEISTER FLEXI2-3 Supreme impresses with its particularly solid material quality.
Private users from Germany can purchase this still legally and without registration. This device may also be used legally for the extraction of essential oils and hydrosols.
In Austria, alcohol can also be legally produced with this still. The DESTILLIERMEISTER FLEXI2-3 Supreme is equally suitable for both applications.
There are variable usage variants for distilling schnapps. In this way, aromatic fruit brandies can be produced or, by increasing the column resistance, they can also be used very well for cleaning alcohol. Because the distillation bridge can be attached to both the still and the column, the still is suitable for pot still and reflux distilling.

Essential oils and hydrolates
With 3 liters of plant space, the FLEXI2-3 Supreme has a decent volume in the hobby area to process larger quantities of plants or drugs. The steam is generated in an extra boiler under the plant container, so that contact with boiling water can be excluded. The best thing is: Since the kettle only has a volume of 2 liters despite the large plant container, the DESTILLIERMEISTER FLEXI2-3 Supreme is also legal in Germany and Austria and can therefore be sold and operated without notification to customs.

Easy to use:

• Pour 1.5 liters into the water / steam boiler,
• Put the seal with the long lip facing inwards over the edge of the boiler,
• Put on cover 2 and close with the latches (1.1).
• Attach 3 liter plant tube (3).
• Insert the aroma basket (8) and fill it with up to 3 liters of herbs or drugs - just compress slightly,
• Put the seal - as described above - over the edge of the plant tube.
• Put on the cover (4) and tension the latches (3.2).
• Insert the distillation bridge 5 into the socket 4.1.
• Screw suitable cooling water hoses to the radiator with 1/2 "hose screw connections, water supply via 5.4, waste water via 5.5.
• Switch on the heat source and at 5.6 collect hydrolates with oil. The distillate line 7 must not be immersed in the distillate.
• With a full tube, distill a maximum of 15 to a maximum of 20 minutes at higher power (e.g. induction plate 1500 to 2000 watts). The heating output must be reduced for smaller quantities.
